Toothpaste Product Review: Dr. Bronner’s vs. JASON

Last spring I was on a quest to remineralize my teeth because the dentist said I had a cavity.

I found Uncle Harry’s and discovered oil pulling. I’ll have to do a post on these at a later date. I ended up buying some cinnamon flavored Uncle Harry’s on my 3rd purchase and burned my tongue so bad that it was swollen and hurt so bad I couldn’t sleep or eat. I had to fast for a whole week, oil pull daily and drink aloe vera drinks. I had to find a really mild toothpaste because I’m a fanatic about cleanliness. I found a gentle toothpaste and have been using it for about 4 months but I’m not really happy with its long-term effects on my teeth. So here I am on the hunt for the perfect toothpaste.

One of the main things I am looking for is shiny smooth teeth and no chemical smell. One time I ran out of my toothpaste and reached over and borrowed some from my roommates. It was Colgate and OH MY GOODNESS!!! It reeked of chemicals. I had to find a toothpaste and fast.

I went to my local Wholefoods grocery store and bought some Dr. Bronner’s and some JASON toothpaste and that is the inspiration for this product review.

Ingredients

Dr. Bronner’s

Hydrated Silica, Calcium Carbonate, Organic Glycerine, Organic Aloe Juice, Baking Soda, Potassium Cocoate, Organic Essential Oils

JASON

Calcium Carbonate, Water, Glycerine, Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Mentha Peiperita, Carrageenan, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Gel, Bambusa Arundinacea Stem Powder, Carum Petroselinum (Parsley) Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Perilla Ocymoides Seed Extract, Stevia REbaudiana Extract, Silica, Sodium Bicarbonate.

Foaming Power

Dr. Bronner’s – Does not foam but you can feel it working and moving around in your mouth and doing its job.

JASON – Is a foaming toothpaste so if that is what you are looking for you’ll get it.

Chemical Smell

Dr. Bronner’s – a very slight nice smell of natural toothpaste

JASON – slightly smells like chemicals

Cleans and Brightens

My teeth felt very clean and looked bright after both kinds of toothpaste.

Overall

I think that I will continue to use Dr. Bronner’s toothpaste. If JASON happens to be on sale and there is no Bronner’s on the shelf I would buy the JASON again definitely. I give them both a thumbs up. It just really depends on what you are looking for in your toothpaste.

What kind of toothpaste do you use? Do you make your own? Let me know in the comments below.

***Update June 2018 I have switched over and like the JASONS much better. It is my daily go to.
